A total of 30 medical workers from the First Hospital of Jilin University on May 30 returned to Changchun, capital of Northeast China's Jilin province, after spending half a month assisting in Jilin city, which was locked down due to confirmed COVID-19 cases, according to local reports.
Among the 30 medical workers, 10 offered to help in Wuhan, capital of Central China's Hubei province, which initially bore the brunt of the novel coronavirus epidemic in the country, according to hospital officials.
Officials said that during the medical workers' stint in Jilin city, they were mainly responsible for collecting throat swabs from residents in the Fengman district. Officials said they collected a total of 11,599 samples from 2,683 households.
Having fulfilled their tasks, they have returned to Changchun and will return to their jobs after 21 days of quarantine and rest, officials added.
