The inauguration ceremony for the institute of natural resource management of Jilin province was held at Northeast Normal University in Changchun, capital of the country's northeastern province, on June 5, according to local reports.

The institute, jointly established by the Department of Natural Resources of Jilin Province and the university, aims to develop into a leading think tank in the province.

Officials said that Northeast Normal University boasts many outstanding experts and scholars in the field of natural resources.

It also hosts many academic research institutions that are highly relevant to natural resource management, such as the School of Geographical Sciences and the big data research institute, making it an ideal place for establishing the institute.

They said the Department of Natural Resources of Jilin Province will support the institute's progress and advance cooperation between the university in scientific research projects, so as to offer strong support for Jilin's revitalization.
