Around 100 groups of lanterns are on display in a summer lantern show that kicked off on Friday evening in Changchun Movie Wonderland in Changchun, Jilin province. Over the next two months, local residents and tourists can enjoy various lanterns blended with modern and traditional elements in the 400,000-square-meter park.
The largest group, dubbed Castle in the Sky, is 10 meters high and 100 meters long. It presents a mirage to visitors using techniques such as lighting and smoke effects.
In addition, visitors can enjoy delicious snacks and various performances during the summer lantern festival.
The lantern show is part of the 2020 Changchun summer relaxation art festival, which kicked off at the Changchun World Sculpture Park on the day and will run for 100 days.
Officials said the art festival will feature a total of 138 summer activities, including 54 online ones.
They added that the festival has been held for 13 seasons and to date it has received a total of 240 million visitors, playing a positive role in promoting Changchun's city image, enhancing external exchanges and driving local economic growth.
