The New E-commerce Research Report was released at the first China New E-Commerce Conference (CNECC), which opened in Changchun, Northeast China's Jilin province, on Oct 9, defining the concept of "new e-commerce" for the first time.
According to the report, new e-commerce is a new form of e-commerce that is user-oriented, and uses new-generation information technology.
New e-commerce has three main characteristics that separate it from traditional e-commerce. The first is a shift from functional consumption to experiential consumption; the second is a shift of focus from products to users; and the third is a shift from a single scenario to the integration of multiple scenarios.
The main forms include community e-commerce, live streaming e-commerce, and social e-commerce.

New e-commerce improves circulation efficiency by applying new-generation information technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, blockchain, and the internet of things to different links and processes of product production, supply and marketing.
Relying on its own technological advantages and resources, new e-commerce company reconstructs a value chain of important links, such as procurement, sales, and production of small and medium-sized enterprises, and helps the enterprises to improve their digital production and operation capabilities.
