A forum focusing on the promotion of ice and snow economy through the use of new e-commerce was held in Changchun, Northeast China's Jilin province, on Oct 9, inviting government officials, scholars and industrial leaders, according to local media reports.
The forum was part of the first China New E-Commerce Conference to be held in Changchun on Oct 9, exploring a path for the development of new e-commerce in China.
The forum attendees exchanged views on how Jilin province can fully tap into the potential of ice and snow resources and build an ice and snow economy brand through the use of new e-commerce.
Jilin is blessed with unique ice and snow resources. In recent years, Jilin has sought to highlight the development of its ice and snow economy, as well as the entire related industrial chain including ice and snow tourism, sports, culture, and equipment.

Last year, the province set up "Jilin Cultural Tourism Online Flagship Stores" on platforms such as Ctrip, Fliggy, and Qunar to expand marketing channels.
During the Jilin Ice and Snow Festival developed during the "Double Eleven" shopping gala last year, more than 60,000 ice and snow tourism products were pre-sold online, and the turnover increased by 100 percent year-on-year.
It is reported that during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), the province's Jilin city will speed up the development of 40 key ice and snow projects with a total investment of nearly 100 billion yuan ($15.54 billion), and promote the high-quality development of ice and snow tourism, sports, and related facilities.
