E-commerce pushes forward rural poverty alleviation in Jilin
Progress has been made in alleviating poverty in rural areas of Northeast China's Jilin province, with the development of e-commerce, according to local media reports.
Rural e-commerce is playing an increasingly prominent role in optimizing the rural industrial structure and boosting structural reform of the agricultural supply side.
Yanbian spicy cabbage was recently named a national geographical indication product, and Cui Jinlong's entrepreneurial team cooperated with local poverty alleviation factories to produce 30,000-50,000 metric tons of spicy cabbage annually, helping 149 poor households.
After nearly 10 years of entrepreneurial efforts, Cui's online store has been set up on Taobao, Tmall, and Pinduoduo, and it now has multiple sales channels, including livestreaming. The store sells more than 500 kinds of local specialties and food as well as imported goods.
According to data from the Department of Commerce of Jilin Province, during the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20), Jilin province helped 28 counties and cities to demonstrate the use of e-commerce in rural areas, and 34 counties, cities, and districts to test out rural e-commerce at the provincial level.
A total of 268 county and township e-commerce service centers, 5,316 rural e-commerce service stations, and 31 county-level logistics collection and storage centers have been constructed or renovated.
In order to expand market channels for agricultural specialty products, Jilin province has strengthened cooperation with various e-commerce platforms, carried out online and offline promotional activities, and opened Jilin product display and sales centers in places such as Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Yunnan, and Chongqing.
