Northeast China's Jilin province will begin its development into an innovation-oriented province as the Innovative Province Construction Plan of Jilin Province was recently approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology.

Jilin will strive to form an innovation-driven development model, and provide a new experience model for the comprehensive revitalization of Northeast China.

According to the province's development plan, it will strive to achieve the basic establishment of a strategic innovation platform by 2025, and effectively improve key core technology research and innovation capabilities.

By 2035, the goal of building an innovation-oriented province will be basically completed with Jilin's main scientific and technological indicators expected to be in the upper and middle reaches of the country.

In recent years, Jilin has adopted a series of effective measures to increase investment and support for scientific and technological innovation.

According to the newly-released 2021 China Regional Innovation Capability Evaluation Report, Jilin province marked progress in innovation capability, and moved nine places up in the national rankings.

The report shows that Jilin's indicators in knowledge creation, knowledge acquisition, and enterprise innovation have increased substantially.
