Northeast China's Jilin province launched its annual science and technology week with a launch ceremony held in its capital city of Changchun on May 21, according to local media reports.

The one-week-long event is part of National Science and Technology Week. This year's event is being held online, showcasing Jilin province's sci-tech achievements.

The virtual exhibition hall for Jilin Science and Technology Week, on the Jilin Provincial Science and Technology Literature Information Service Platform, has been opened.

The exhibition hall is divided into four major sections: major sci-tech achievements, low-carbon industry development, technology changing life and technology safety education. Each part displays scientific and technological products and scientific and technological achievements to the public through text and pictures.

In recent years, Jilin has adopted a series of effective measures to increase investment and support for scientific and technological innovation.

In 2021, the comprehensive scientific and technological innovation level index for Jilin province was raised from 19th position in the country to 17th, indicating real progress made in advancing its innovation capabilities, moving up in the newly released national rankings.

The latest edition has shown that Jilin's indicators in knowledge creation, knowledge acquisition and enterprise innovation have increased substantially.

In addition, Jilin has become the 11th innovative province in the country, the first of its kind in Northeast China.
