The CCPIT Jilin Provincial Committee held cloud economic and trade fairs with Singapore and Finland respectively on June 28, calling for deeper cooperation in agricultural products processing, intelligent manufacturing, medical care and winter sports, according to local media reports.

In recent years, Singapore and Northeast China's Jilin province have done a lot of business in the fields of automobile manufacturing and business services.

In the first half of this year, although Jilin province was affected by the COVID-19 epidemic, its trade volume with Singapore still maintained a growth trajectory. In the first four months, the value of total imports and exports to Singapore reached 250 million yuan ($37.3 million), a year-on-year increase of 42.2 percent.

Hu Jinsheng, president of the Singapore Chamber of Commerce and Industry in China, said that in the golden period after the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership – a massive tariff-reducing trading block including China – came into effect earlier this year, Singaporean firms were eager to expand their business with Jilin province in agriculture, industry and in other fields.

Plans are for the chamber of commerce to invite more Singaporean entrepreneurs to visit Jilin province to explore doing more business in the future.

According to Li Qingchen, president of the CCPIT Jilin Provincial Committee, Jilin will host an economic conference on global cold regions this year, which is expected to open up more extensive new space for cooperation between Jilin and Finland in the field of winter sports.

During the online event, 25 Jilin-based enterprises and 21 Singapore-based enterprises agreed preliminary contracts worth 15.9 million yuan. And 32 Jilin-based enterprises and 29 Finland-based enterprises agreed preliminary contracts worth 10.6 million yuan.
