Sino-German joint venture FAW-Volkswagen – based in Changchun city, Northeast China's Jilin province – witnessed its 25 millionth vehicle roll off the assembly line on Oct 24, according to local media reports.

That followed its 20 millionth vehicle which was produced on March 30, 2020.

In recent years, FAW-Volkswagen has overcome multiple challenges such as the COVID-19 epidemic, computer chip shortages and natural disasters and achieved the leap from 20 million vehicles to 25 million vehicles in just two years and seven months.

As such, FAW-Volkswagen became the only passenger car company that has produced and sold more than 5 million vehicles since 2020.

In recent years, it has continuously improved its technological innovation systems, actively promoted new industrialization and accelerated the realization of high-quality development with innovation and change as the driving force.

To date, the company has established and launched 24 digital transformation projects – covering key process areas such as marketing, production, products, procurement, quality assurance, finance and personnel.

The in-depth integration of its business and IT is said to have achieved fruitful results in many projects such as the integrated operation of mass brands and private domains, preventive quality management and smart factories.

In terms of technology research and development, a new technology development center, an automobile proving ground and a new energy center with a total investment of several billion yuan have been completed. FAW-Volkswagen currently has nearly 3,000 R&D personnel.

In terms of accelerating the development of its green transformation, FAW-Volkswagen is not only developing new energy technologies, launching smart pure electric models and building green factories, but also driving the industry supply chain to launch a "green partner" standard.
