Wang Deping, Jilin Provincial Committee member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and director of the Research and Development Institute of FAW Group, stated that the Research and Development Institute of FAW Group strives to seize the high ground regarding new opportunities for the development of the automotive industry.

The automotive industry is the primary advantageous industry in Northeast China's Jilin province. In 2023, China FAW achieved a total vehicle sales of 3.37 million units, a 5.1 percent year-on-year increase. The industry's operating income reached 624.94 billion yuan ($87.25 billion) in the same period, indicating a 6-percent year-on-year increase.

As the "main battlefield" for technological innovation at China FAW, the Research and Development Institute has vigorously achieved a series of original and leading key technological breakthroughs, adding impetus to the innovative development of the automotive industry.

In 2023, China FAW Group applied for a total of 7,589 patents, including 6,487 invention patents, with the quality of patents from centralized enterprises reaching the A-level standard.

Furthermore, efforts have been made to create high-quality and efficient popular products under the Hongqi brand. In 2023, Hongqi achieved mass production of 11 complete vehicle products and eight assembly products. Over the last six years, Hongqi has successively launched 15 new products, creating the most extensive and comprehensive luxury product matrix among independent brands.
