Temperatures had already plummeted to -18 C as dawn broke over the snow-covered mountains. Bracing against the biting wind, Li Chunshi and his colleagues, workers from the Quanyang maintenance unit of China Railway Shenyang Group's Jilin power supply section, set out on their daily inspection rounds. Dressed in heavy protective gear and carrying their toolkits, they prepared for another challenging day in the field.

"This week, with the Spring Festival travel rush underway, we must guarantee power supply safety," Li said determinedly. As they navigated the rugged forest trails, their bright orange uniforms stood out against the vast expanse of white snow.

Railway traffic surges significantly during the Spring Festival travel period, placing immense pressure on power infrastructure. Li and his colleagues are responsible for thorough inspections and timely hazard mitigation.

They discovered a patch of toppled trees leaning precariously against the power lines at one checkpoint. If left unaddressed, the situation could lead to severe disruptions. Li promptly reported the issue to the team leader, who arranged a temporary power shutdown. After coordinating with local forestry officials, Li grabbed a chainsaw and took the lead in clearing the obstruction.

In the vast, frozen forests of Changbai Mountain, Li and his fellow power line workers continue their quiet, essential work. Step by step, through snow and ice, they safeguard the nation's railway system, ensuring the smooth and secure operation of one of the busiest travel seasons of the year.
