Jilin University hosts forum on border governance

The High-Level Forum on Major Issues in Border Governance and the Construction of an Independent Knowledge System for Border Studies was held on Feb 23 at Jilin University in Changchun, capital of Northeast China's Jilin province.
Jilin University and the Jilin Academy of Social Sciences co-hosted the event. Leaders from the Ministry of Education, the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, Jilin's government, and scholars from universities, including Minzu University of China, Yunnan University, Lanzhou University, and Shaanxi Normal University, attended the forum.
Border regions are at the forefront of China's opening-up policy. They serve as important windows for showcasing the country's strength and image and crucial barriers to ensuring national and ecological security. The forum aimed to explore new viewpoints, measures, and paths for border governance and the development of an independent knowledge system for border studies through discussions and debates among experts from multiple disciplines.

Han Xiping, Party secretary and dean of the School of History and Culture at Jilin University, emphasized that in the new era, it is essential to deepen the understanding of China's borders, study and summarize the historical experiences of border governance, strengthen theoretical support, and produce more impactful and persuasive research findings.
After the opening ceremony, experts engaged in discussions on various topics related to border governance. They offered valuable insights, contributing to developing the knowledge system for border studies.
