Nature, culture and crowds: Jilin's vibrant May Day

During the May Day holiday, Northeast China's Jilin province welcomed over 19.65 million domestic visitors and generated 18.48 billion yuan ($2.56 billion) in travel spending.

Visitors from outside the province accounted for 32 percent of the total, while 42 percent stayed overnight, reflecting a robust tourism economy. Changchun, Jilin city, and Yanbian Korean autonomous prefecture topped the list of most-visited areas.

Visitor numbers surged across key sites: Erdao Baihe town saw a 26 percent year-on-year increase, Songhua Lake rose by 62.8 percent, and Lafa Mountain National Forest Park by 51.1 percent. Jingyuetan Resort set a new record for May 2 visitors, and Beida Lake Ski Resort also saw a notable 23.1 percent rise.

Museums and cultural centers extended hours and offered 42 exhibitions and 65 educational events, while 22 stayed open past 6 pm. Public libraries hosted nearly 400 events, from performances to hands-on heritage workshops.

Transport services were also enhanced with new tourist bus routes in Changchun and free rides on 68 urban lines in Jilin city. Electric vehicle users also enjoyed smoother travel with 222 fast-charging stations across the province's expressway service areas.
