The Liaoyuan Miners' Memorial Hall, spanning 200,000 square meters, stands as a powerful reminder of one of WWII's darkest chapters – the exploitation of miners under Japan's brutal wartime policy of "coal for lives".
Between 1931 and 1945, more than 3 million metric tons of coal were extracted, with over 15 million tons taken by force during the occupation, leaving behind a legacy of suffering and sacrifice.
