Siberian tigers have recently been spotted in the Tianqiaoling forest area in the Yanbian Korean autonomous prefecture, in Northeast China's Jilin province, adding to the growing proof of Jilin's improving ecological system and its environment.
The frequent appearance of wild Siberian tigers nowadays means that the number of animals at all levels in the entire ecosystem there is sufficient, providing a sufficient food chain for the big cats.

Siberian tigers and leopards are mainly to be found in the Far East of Russia and in Northeast China. At the start of the 20th century, due to habitat destruction and other factors, the numbers of these two species declined sharply, but in recent years a series of effective conservation efforts by China and Russia has resulted in the restoration of their populations.
The Northeast China Tiger and Leopard National Park, which was launched in 2021 – bordering Russia and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea – is home to the largest wild Siberian tiger and Siberian leopard populations in the world.
It has historically been home to large numbers of Siberian tigers and Siberian leopards and is the only area with a permanent wild population and breeding families.
